Poor Italy concede 2 – Second Half Still To Go

Italy protests to no avail after ‘offside’ Van Nistelrooy netted Holland’s opener

Italy have conceded twice in a match where Holland are dominating. Italy have had a couple of chances and their best chance came from Di Natale whose shot was saved twice by Van Der Sar. Holland’s first goal was totally offside but Panucci was out of the pitch injured behind Buffon and it seems that that made the goal legible. Second goal full credit to Holland. Great play and Sneijder sends the Oranje fans rapturing. Italy need to revive their action and get dominating the game. Poor ball possesion and poor defending saw them concede two goals which at least the second could have be unnecessary had Italy defenders taken a better control on the Dutch attack. More poor defending saw Van Nistelrooy go one-on-one against Gigi who saved Italy’s blushes.

Second Half to get underway soon! Can Italy stage a comeback or will the Campioni Del Mondo lose out on the Opening Match of their Euro 2008 commitments?

well hmm yes we are playing poorly but come on the first goal was *******… that rule is stupid! panucci was injured how could he be keeping ruud from being offside????????

rules are rules :D there were times when they favoured italy, and you didnt protest. i think you would agree that one of the key players that had an impact on the game is the great Edwin van der Sar. especially the save from the free-kick :O

yeah the free-kick was great..had a couple of saves but he was not tested substantially from the azzurri…

on the offside – rule says that if a player puts himself voluntarily outside the pitch than it is not offside… panucci was involved in a collision with the dutch player and buffon and surely did not stay out voluntarily… had he been standing coming back to the pitch it would be fair to judge it as a good goal but seriously ….
